Our trip started in Tarragona. We travelled there by AVE, the high speed train from Málaga. Tarragona is a World Heritage Site with many well-preserved Roman buildings. After our guided tour we had a lovely welcome dinner.
The next morning we left by coach to Vall de Boí in the Spanish Pyrenees, stopping to visit 12th century Poblet monastery on our way. Vall de Boí is a gorgeous valley with 9 churches dating from the 12th century covered with the most beautiful mosaics. All together a World heritage site. We visited the 3 most beautiful ones. We left to go to Barcelona having lunch in the Parador of Lerida and a guided tour of its 12th century Cathedral. In Barcelona we visited 2 spectacular world heritage sites that are not well known: the crypt of Gaudi in Colonia Guell and the beautiful Art Nouveau hospital San Pau.
