On Saturday 8 February, Rafa Anderson, our speaker for the lecture: ´Hunting the Borderlands of Ronda´ on 28 January, will be our guide, explaining the Arab sights of the city.
After a coffee stop on the way we will arrive in Ronda and visit the building and the Gardens of the Palacio de Mondragón which used to be, in the 14thc, the Palacio Abu Malik. Now the Archaeological Museum of Ronda. Then we will go to the Plaza Abul Bakr where you can see a minaret from the Almohad period. Followed by Casa del Rey Moro and the Forestier garden which dates from 1910, a combination of Arab and French Gardens. Also to be visited: the Arab water mines, the best preserved in Spain dating from the 14thc, complex water engineering works with a military aim. 200 steps! If you are unable to manage the 200 steps you can stay and enjoy the garden. Our last visit is to the Baños Arabes, the Arab baths. We end our visits with a 3 course lunch in Casa Clemente.
We leave at 8 am from Nerja and at 8.30 from Velez Malaga and arrive in Ronda at 11.00 after a breakfast stop on our way. We will be back in Nerja around 19.00.
