Andalusi Arts & Crafts

Tuesday, March 24, 2026

In this talk I will delve into the material culture of Al-Andalus, from textiles to ceramics to architecture, food, metalwork and manuscript art, in each case exploring the background, techniques, materials and means of production used, with illustrations wherever possible.

I will detail who would have been involved in each stage of production, and share fascinating details about how each one impacted the culture of Al-Andalus, leaving tangible traces to the present time, indelibly shaping the Andalusian identity.
