Part of our 30th Anniversary Celebrations was a present for all our members: a calendar with 13 Arabic castles in Al Andalus. The Arts Society Nerja collaborated in the making of this calendar. Pedro Valcárcel Sánchez, associate of the Asociación Sharqi which disseminates the Arab culture of AlAndalus, made the calendar and presented it in a talk together with Helen Sijsling with an explanation of each castle. This was in the Museo de Nerja after our Coffee Morning for New members. It was full house, over a hundred members and friends came to the Talk and afterwards received the calendar.
On 25 November after a wonderful breakfast we visited the Arab sites in Almeria with Pedro as our guide: the fortress, which is the largest fortress built by the Arabs on the Peninsula, the oldest part dating from the 10th, the Museum of Almeria and the ancient city walls.
