In these hard times, we have supported the destitute in our community with their basic needs. However, we have also set up two projects that bring a smile to the face of a child and gives them an enriching experience.
The aim of this festival is to bring a smile to the faces of children and young people of poor families, namely in the area of Torre del Mar where there is a shanty town and a big gypsy community.
We want to have them get a sense of success, to let them work together with others, to integrate with other children of different cultures in the community.
We want to use art, music and dance, as a tool to develop their personality and also to give them opportunities for the future.
In this project The Arts Society Nerja is collaborating with
On Saturday 23 October 2021 there will be several workshops for the children, given by professionals.
A Music workshop with recycled instruments by two musicians from the company Vibra-Tó. a collective of multi-instrumentalist musicians who create musical instruments from everyday objects and waste materials.
It is an interactive didactic-musical project in which two multi-instrumentalist musicians-pedagogues perform their own compositions and music with unusual, unconventional instruments made from waste materials, like cans turned into guitars and tambourines, bottles, funnels, combs, tubes etc.
They will teach the children to make instruments and then create an orchestra, practice and in the evening, there will be a concert to celebrate their achievements.
Dance workshops with Street dancing and Break dancing. These workshops are given by two professional dancers from the dance school New Crew.
They are also going to kindly donate a dance scholarship.
Video workshop: we are looking into the possibility of adding a video workshop while those that attend will make a video of the day and present the video at the beginning of the performance to the audience.
Film Workshop where a professional will instruct a small group of ´cameramen´ how to make a film, they will then film the day with giving an overview of the workshops. The film will be presented and shown during the evening performance.
In between the workshops we are hoping to be able to organize a lunch for the children and their parents.
After the workshops there will be a performance to which you are all cordially invited. It is planned to take place on the Paseo Maritimo in Torre del Mar.
We are investigating the possibility of giving three children the opportunity of a Scholarship by MOC enabling them to learn to play a real instrument and go a music school and /or the Conservatorio, the Music academy.
The New Crew are also kindly donating a Dance Scholarship.
The aim of the competition is to celebrate and encourage aspiring, talented young musicians between the ages of 8 - 17 years who live in Málaga and its province. This unique event is the only competition in Spain that is open to piano plus wind and string instruments.
The auditions will be held on Saturday 26th March 2022 and the finals are on Sunday 27th March 2022 at the Villa de Nerja Centro Cultural.
Contestants must present to the jury their programme consisting of 3 works of different styles. For pianists one piece must be by a Spanish composer.
There are three people on the jury: Babak Eshraghi (string instruments), Paula Coronas (teacher Piano at the Conservatorio Málaga) and Elena Pisonero (teacher flute at the Conservatorio Málaga).
We will offer several prizes (financial awards) and trophies for the different age groups and the 3 different groups of instruments.
Those contestants who pass the Eliminator stage but who do not receive a prize will be awarded an accredited diploma.
We hope you agree that these two festivals are stimulating and worthwhile projects. We budgeted spending money on charity, however with some extra money we can do more.
